As more and more game companies look to remake iconic games of yesteryear, gamers are now petitioning for Konami to do the same with the one and only Silent Hill.
Over on Change.org, a user by the name of Justin Harris has created a petition asking Konami to consider remaking the original Silent Hill, using Capcom’s Resident Evil 2 Remake as an example.

Justin writes: “To this day people still seek thrills and chills from re playing the old silent hill games. I believe if done correctly, a Silent hill 1,2, and 3 remake could be a major success! I know other survival horror fans like myself would certainly pay for modern remakes of these masterpieces.”
Unless you’re emulating it (or unless you have the original tech on hand), the original Silent Hill games are pretty hard to play nowadays. The first 1990s classic horror is playable in its original form on the PlayStation Network – but only for the PlayStation 3. Meanwhile, Silent Hill 2 and 3 did get remasters in the form of the PlayStation 3 title, Silent Hill HD Collection, but it was poorly received by fans.

Yes, the original Silent Hill games need to be made more accessible, but could Konami do with the franchise what Capcom is doing for Resident Evil? It’s doubtful.
At the moment, the Change.org petition has a few hundred signatures, but Konami might have already kissed goodbye to the Silent Hill brand. We recently reported that the Silent Hill domain name has been let go of.

Personally, as much as I love the Silent Hill series, I kind of want them to live on as they are, even if they are hard to play.
