Resident Evil 4 remake is now in development for the PS4. However, it seems that Xbox One gamers might be left behind.
The news of Resident Evil 4 coming to PlayStation 4 was announced during the Capcom Showcase on the Tokyo Game Show’s opening day. Sadly, there was no explanation as to why the Xbox One is being left behind. In fact, Xbox One wasn’t even mentioned.
As good as it is that more fans will be able to play the Resident Evil 4 remake when it launches next year, some fans do have reservations. For starters, will the development of RE4 hinder the progress of the PC and new-gen versions? After all, this is a game that was initially coming to PC and new-gen consoles only.
Will the Resident Evil 4 remake work on PS4?
Secondly, will the quality of the Resident Evil 4 remake on PS4 be up to standards? To ease concerns, if the quality of the RE2 and RE3 remakes, as well as RE Village on last-gen consoles, are anything to go by, then we should have little concerns with the RE4 remake on PS4.
In terms of the new-gen version being hindered by the development of the PS4 version, I think we will be fine there too. The development of the RE4 remake is said to have begun in 2018. This of course means that it’s been in development for about four years already.
My guess is that the remake is about 70% to 80% complete. If that is the case, perhaps Capcom had a little more time on its hands than expected and decided that it might be able to bring the RE4 remake to PS4. This is all guesswork on my part, so take my words with a pinch of salt.
We’ll see more Resident Evil 4 in October
Finally, Capcom has also revealed that there will be a new Resident Evil Showcase sometime in October, with the promise of more updates on the remake.
