A YouTuber has created concept videos showing off what Resident Evil 7 would be like if it used a fixed camera, just like the original game.
By using a free camera movement mod, YouTuber “Enveloping Sounds” was able to emulate the look of early entries into the zombie shootin’ saga by simply positioning the camera at specific angles. The result? A surprisingly eerie experience that could make the Baker family scary all over again.
While the YouTuber’s efforts are impressive, it’s important to remember that this isn’t an actual mod just yet. This is simply some clever editing, along with the ability to manually move the camera to whatever dingey corner you wish. The video also has some added sound effects, to make things feel truly like 1996 [via IGN].

Enveloping Sounds has also applied this same trick to the likes of the Resident Evil 2 and 3 remakes, examples of which can also be found on the YouTuber’s channel.
It’ll be interesting to see if modders within the community feel inspired by these concept pieces. It would be incredible to get a fully realised mod that replicates a forgotten Resident Evil experience.
The Resident Evil scene has been filled with news and reveals as of late.
For the series’ 25th anniversary, Capcom announced “RE:VERSE”, a multiplayer experience that spans across the entire series. Not to mention that we were given a brand new Resident Evil Village demo, allowing us to get close and perhaps too personal with the game’s leggy antagonist and her daughters (on PS5, at least).
We’ve no doubt that this creative YouTuber will give Resident Evil Village the same treatment upon its release. That being said, perhaps this upcoming game will pose something of an issue to modders and concept artists? According to reports, the game will be open-world.
Anyway, I can’t imagine why anyone would want to watch Lady Dimitrescu devour them from a third person perspective (time to go take a cold shower)!
