Rockstar Games, the company behind the likes of Grand Theft Auto, Red Dead Redemption and Bully has just acquired a new studio, begging the question: is a new game on the cards?

Scottish studio Ruffian Games, whose previous work includes the Master Chief Collection and Crackdown 2, is now officially owned by Rockstar and will go under the name “Rockstar Dundee.”
The news was announced following a few industry leaks, with it being confirmed that at the time of the acquisition, Ruffian Games consists of 40 employees.

“We are thrilled to have Ruffian join the Rockstar Games family,” said Sam Houser, Founder of Rockstar Games. “The Ruffian team are a talented addition to Rockstar’s global studios, and we look forward to working together on future projects.”
What Rockstar Dundee will be working on is not yet known, but it’s hoped the new studio will be reviving one of the most beloved – and long-dormant – Rockstar IPs: Bully.

Rumours of a sequel to the 2006 classic have been rife for a long, long time now, though there’s been no official word of such a game. Making such a tongue-in-cheek game in 2020 and beyond would definitely be a feat, as Bully isn’t exactly the most politically correct game of all time. However, if anyone can do it, Rockstar can!
So far there’s no evidence to suggest that Rockstar Dundee could be gifted the next adventure of James “Jimmy” Hopkins, but it’s tentatively hoped that that’ll be the case. Maybe if we ask Rockstar really, really nicely…?
Whatever the new studio may be working on, there’s still plenty of exciting things to come from Rockstar Games. The studio is rumoured to be working on GTA 6, which let’s face it, we all want a lot more than Bully 2 right now…
We’ve been told to wait patiently for GTA 6, but with next-gen consoles just weeks away from launch, we’re hoping for news any day now!
