Rockstar Games Claims GTA 5 Has Sold Over 150 Million Units

Rockstar Games claims that GTA 5 has sold over a whopping 150,000,000 units worldwide since it originally launched in 2013.

To be honest, it should come as little surprise that GTA 5 has hit yet another sales milestone. Despite nearly being a decade old, GTA 5 is regularly topping sale charts and has almost outsold the likes of Pokemon. Oh, and there’s the small matter of it being the most profitable entertainment product ever made.

Will GTA 5 ever stop making money?

However, Rockstar Games parent company Take-Two Interactive has once again been showing details of GTA 5s ever-growing riches.

As reported by Comicbook, Take-Two confirmed that Grand Theft Auto 5 has sold a mightily impressive 150 million units. As a franchise, Grand Theft Auto is now said to have sold over 350 million copies across multiple platforms and generations.

So, when you look at the 350 million franchise sales, Grand Theft Auto 5 takes up 150 million of that sizable chunk. This means that GTA 5 roughly amounts to 42% of the combined sales.

It’s also worth mentioning that sales are not likely to slow down with GTA 5 on PC, PS4, and Xbox One. However, Rockstar is releasing another port for PS5 and Xbox Series X|S on November 11th this year, meaning the series will make even more money.

In related news, a dataminer discovered that the latest next-gen port of GTA V might feature a save transfer function for the single player campaign.
