With a PlayStation State of Play event coming this week, gamers are eagerly scouring the internet for hints, clues and tip-offs to try and predict what might be coming.
Over on Reddit, one eagle-eyed Rockstar Games fan noticed a minor tweak to the company’s Twitter account – one that could point to an upcoming announcement.
As shared to r/gamingleaksandrumours, Redditor DONUSTRATOR notes that Rockstar has removed its pinned tweet from the official account. Though this might seem like a minor detail, the user postulates that this could have been done in order to make way for a new pinned tweet – something which Rockstar did earlier this summer when announcing the big Red Dead Redemption 2 update.
Does this mean we can expect a GTA 6 announcement during State of Play? Well…
If it’s true that R* is waiting to pin a new update to its social media accounts, it doesn’t necessarily mean a new game announcement is on the cards. With Sony’s State of Play event taking place tomorrow, Wednesday 16, it could simply be that a new trailer for Grand Theft Auto 5 for PS5 is revealed.
However, fans are tentatively hopeful that the pinned tweet could be an announcement for Grand Theft Auto 6 – something which has yet to be formally revealed by Rockstar. Though it’s alleged the game won’t be with us for a least another couple of years, a cinematic teaser trailer wouldn’t go amiss. Especially considering we’re at the launch of PS5 and we still haven’t heard a peep on GTA 6’s supposed development.
It’s hard to imagine launching into the next generation of console gaming without a nod to GTA, and with the removal of Rockstar’s pinned tweet…it’s finally starting to look a little more positive for GTA 6 fans!
