There are lots of hills here in England and the hill that I have chosen to die on is as follows: Digimon is just a sh*t version of Pokémon. Feel free to @ me.
If you think that my opinion is wrong (which is isn’t), then you’ll be pleased to know that you can now have the best of both worlds thanks to a new mod for the recently-released Pokémon Sword and Shield. The mod, which was first spotted by Polygon, comes from pro modder Hallow with the help of KillzXGaming.
Installing the mod will replace your in-game Charmander family with some pretty sweet looking Digimon characters, though they do still bear the names, skills and stats as the pocket monster they’re replacing.
As always, there’s a couple of tweaks needed for the mod, but this is looking like a pretty awesome start. Hopefully we’ll soon be able to replace all the Pokémon (except not really, because Pokémon is better than Digimon).
You can check out the mod and download it for yourself over on GameBanana. Thanks to YouTuber BeardBear, you can watch the mod in action in the video below.
Pokémon Sword and Shield are pretty great without mods though, and despite their controversy, they reportedly sold 2 million copies in the US after just two days on the market. This is a huge increase on Nintendo’s last heavy hitter Super Smash Bros. Ultimate, which sold 3 million copies in the US after 11 days on the market.
In total, more than 6 million copies of Sword and Shield have been shifted worldwide, and with Christmas coming, that number is only set to rise.
Nintendo has confirmed the games are “among the fastest-selling Nintendo Switch games of all time,” and that they have had the “highest-grossing launch of any Pokémon game.”
