Star Wars Jedi: Fallen Order may have only released recently, but it seems Respawn Entertainment is already prepping for a sequel. As spotted by GamesRadar, Respawn is looking to fill a number of roles within its “Star Wars Team,” notable a Senior Character Artist, Level Designer, and Senior Software Engineer.
Of course the listings don’t go into specifics so we could be looking at upcoming DLC rather than a sequel, but hey, something’s definitely happening over at EA and Respawn.
Though the listings are pretty vague, one does specify it’s searching for someone who can help “create an incredible Star Wars experience” and who is “invigorated” by coding “third person action/adventure games.”
Personally I’d be happy with story DLC or a new game. Though it had its flaws, Star Wars Jedi: Fallen Order was definitely a step in the right direction for EA.
As for the future of the Star Wars IP, we already know EA has also put the brand name in the very controversial hands of Motive Studios, whose previous work includes Anthem and Battlefront 2. However, that doesn’t necessarily mean we’re going to be getting another loot box-fuelled multiplayer mess.
In an interview with Games Industry at the Montreal International Game Summit, Motive VP and General Manager Patrick Klaus opened up about the next steps for Star Wars video games, saying whatever’s in the works right now is a “very unique experience.”
Hopefully “very unique experience” here means something along the lines of “Baby Yoda Parenting Simulator” and not “pay-to-win multiplayer,” but hey, the jury’s out on that one.
