The City of London Police has confirmed that a 17-year-old from Oxfordshire has been arrested in relation to reportedly being the recent GTA 6 hacker.
Last week, Rockstar Games suffered massive leaks for its highly anticipated Grand Theft Auto 6 title.
Unfortunately for Rockstar, the infamous GTA 6 hacker leaked around 90 minutes of early footage gameplay videos. Images of GTA 6 were also leaked.
The hacker wanted to strike a deal with Rockstar
Following the leaks, the hacker then allegedly reached out to Rockstar Games wanting to strike a deal. However, it seems that the only deal on the table at the time of writing is the terms of any charges brought forward by the police.
As reported by VGC, the City of London Police took to Twitter to release a statement informing followers that a 17-year-old has been charged on suspicion of hacking and remains in police custody.
Furthermore, the 17-year-old has also been charged on suspicion of hacks related to Uber.
Moreover, the culprit, who reportedly resides in Oxfordshire, has been charged with two counts of breach of bail conditions and an additional two counts of computer misuse.
A court hearing has apparently taken place over the weekend.
GTA 6 hacker could be in big trouble
The police haven’t officially confirmed that the 17-year-old’s arrest is related to the GTA 6 leaks.
However, according to the sources of video game journalist, Matthew keys, the teenager that has been charged by the police is the same individual who is responsible for the GTA 6 leaks.
As if it couldn’t get any worse for the individual, it is claimed that the same GTA 6 hacker is not only responsible for Uber hacks but also has previously been arrested for hacking both Microsoft and Nvidia earlier in the year.
If these reports are indeed accurate, then it means that the individual is a repeat offender.
When is the GTA 6 release date?
At this time, GTA 6 does not have a release date. However, following a recent investors’ call by Rockstar Games publisher Take-Two Interactive, GTA 6 won’t be released until at least 2024.
