Bethesda Game Studios director Todd Howard has said that he finds it “hard to imagine” The Elder Scrolls 6 being exclusive to the Xbox brand.
When Microsoft recently acquired ZeniMax Media, parent company of Bethesda in a deal reported to be worth $7.5 billion it sent shockwaves throughout the video game industry.

Many wondered what this would mean for multi-format titles such as Fallout, DOOM, Wolfenstein and The Elder Scrolls. After all, whether you game on PC, PlayStation, Nintendo or Xbox it’s a reasonable question to ask.
During an interview GamesIndustry.biz journalist James Batchelor asked the question to the Bethesda chief Todd Howard, and his words might bring comfort to those hoping that The Elder Scrolls 6 won’t be an Xbox exclusive.
Howard told Batchelor: “I would agree that is hard to imagine.”

Howard also said that each game under the Bethesda umbrella would have to be taken case-by-case basis.
One such deal that raised questions was the timed-exclusivity deal for GhostWire: Tokyo and Deathloop between Bethesda and PlayStation.
However Xbox chief Phil Spencer has already stated that both of the timed exclusive deals for GhostWire: Tokyo and Deathloop will be honoured.

Yet recently Spencer also teased the future of The Elder Scrolls series by not ruling out the sixth instalment being exclusive to the Xbox brand.
It is also worth mentioning that Bethesda has had console exclusive deals with Microsoft in the past such as The Elder Scrolls III: Morrowind which released on both PC and the original Xbox in 2002.

Howard added: “If you look at every Elder Scrolls game, there has been some exclusivity on Xbox or with Microsoft.“
