The Witcher 3 Soundtrack Features In Olympic Gymnastic Performance

The Olympics are now over, but fans of The Witcher 3 were given one final treat to enjoy during the last few games that occurred over the past weekend.

Video games have played a huge role in this year’s Tokyo Olympic games. The opening ceremony featured music from several classic Japanese games, including Final Fantasy, Sonic The Hedgehog, and Kingdom Hearts.

Even more video game music made an appearance at the games over the weekend. The Rhythmic Gymnastics team from Belarus are clearly fans of CD Projekt Red’s hit fantasy RPG, The Witcher 3. One of their performances was completed to a compilation of tracks from the game’s original soundtrack, composed by Marcin Przybyłowicz.

The performance included some of the more adrenaline fuelled tracks from the game, making for an exciting performance. Footage of the event has made its way to the top of the Witcher’s reddit page, amassing almost 20k upvotes. Give it a watch for yourself!

Fans of The Witcher 3 will know how much of a masterpiece its soundtrack is with Slavic instruments really bringing the world of the Witcher to life. It’s even more epic to see the tracks feature in a huge performance like this on a world stage like the Olympics. The gymnasts are seriously impressive, tossing their rings all around with incredible precision.

Unfortunately, the performance wasn’t enough to earn the Belarusians a medal. They placed 6th in the event overall with a score of 38,300. Even so, any gymnastic event performed to video game soundtracks instantly earns it a gold medal from my perspective.

The Witcher Goes For GOld

Remarkably, this isn’t the only Witcher reference that we’ve seen in this Olympics so far. Russian Sharpshooter Vitalina Batsarashkina won a gold medal earlier in the games while wearing an iconic Witcher medallion.

When she returned home after her event, she was welcomed with a Russian rendition of ‘Toss a Coin To Your Witcher’ from the hit Netflix series.
