Uncharted 4 almost paid homage to a legendary James Bond stunt

Uncharted 4: A Thief’s End almost paid homage to a legendary James Bond stunt starring the one and only, Sean Connery.

When talking to CounchSoup, Naughty Dog co-lead designer, Kurt Margenau revealed that Nathan Drake nearly pulled off the stunt from 1971’s Diamonds are Forever.

In case you didn’t know, the scene in question involved James Bond being chased by police. When driving down a narrow alley, it would normally spell doom for the average person. However, this is Bond, James Bond we’re talking about here. So to evade the law, Bond tilts his car onto two wheels and makes a stylish getaway.

Drake was nearly a bad boy, apparently

We actually prototyped doing that [during A Thief’s End‘s jeep chase],” said Margenau. It was also revealed during the same interview, that Michael Bay’s Bad Boys inspired the scrapped scene from Uncharted 4.

Margenau added: “[The team were thinking] how do we got onto the roof, or crash down through it, [we were] pulling all the craziest chase stuff from movies,”.

In our review of Uncharted: Legacy of Thieves Collection, we said: “Even if you’ve played through Uncharted 4 and Lost Legacy before, I’d recommend returning to them for this collection.

Playing at a higher frame rate won’t completely transform these games, but it certainly makes them more enjoyable. After five years with nothing new in the world of Uncharted, now is a better time than ever to jump back in.

Uncharted 4 is available now for PlayStation 5, as part of the Legacy of Thieves Collection, which also includes The Lost Legacy. It will also release for PC at a later date.
