Most of us will remember playing GTA (Grand Theft Auto): San Andreas in our youth. It was (and still is) considered one of the best games of all time. It’s fun, the storyline is great and it influenced countless other games after it came out.

Your character was Carl ‘CJ’ Johnson, and you lived on Grove Street. You’re probably picturing the cul-de-sac as we speak. You returned home to Liberty City from Los Santos after hearing about the drive-by murder of your mother. Deep.

Anyway, you know how it goes. Do you fancy playing it now? Well lucky for us, Xbox One is introducing backwards compatibility. As of Thursday (June 7), your old Xbox copy of the game will work.
Rockstar said: “Both the original Xbox release and the Xbox 360 version of San Andreas will be backward compatible. Save games from the original Xbox version will not transfer, however owners of that version will get the upgraded Xbox 360 version of the game, featuring higher resolution, enhanced draw distances, and Achievements.”
They’re also doing it for Midnight Club: Los Angeles and Rockstar Games presents Table Tennis. Odd. But we’ll take it.

According to Engadget, both the Xbox and Xbox 360 copy will work on your Xbox One console, however Xbox saves won’t transfer. If you do have the original Xbox version, you can apparently download the Xbox 360 HD remaster with better draw distances and Achievements.
If you bought digital versions of the games, they’ll show on your ‘Ready to Install’ tab as soon as they’re available on Xbox One. If you have a disc, you can insert it and download a port of the game.

Rockstar announced on their website: “A distinguished trio of Rockstar Xbox 360 titles are coming to the Xbox One Backward Compatibility catalog next week on Thursday, June 7th: the west coast GTA classic Grand Theft Auto: San Andreas, the breakneck high-speed racing Midnight Club: Los Angeles and the fast and fluid competition of Rockstar Games presents Table Tennis.”
