Update: 13/09/22: Nintendo has now confirmed that a Direct will take place later today.
A livestream was planned, however, that has now changed to a YouTube upload as a mark of respect to the passing of Queen Elizabeth II.
Nintendo did not confirm what games will feature in the Direct event, so we’ll just have to wait and see if it will be a “Zelda blowout”. The event will be around 40 minutes long and will “mostly” focus on games released this coming winter.
The Nintendo Direct will premiere on YouTube at 4pm UK time/7am PT/10am ET.
Original Story 12/08/22: Zelda: Breath of the Wild 2 will reportedly have its name revealed this week during a Nintendo Direct event, according to recent reports.
Despite not being announced by Nintendo, rumours were making the rounds that an upcoming Direct event will take place soon. The rumoured Nintendo Direct is being described as a “Zelda blowout”.
The unannounced Zelda blowout was delayed
However, despite not actually being announced, speculation stated that the event was delayed by Nintendo Japan, following the passing of Queen Elizabeth II.
This “Zelda blowout” Nintendo Direct is expected to announce Nintendo Switch ports of The Legend of Zelda: Wind Waker as well as Twilight Princess. However, there may be more than just the announcement of the two ports at Nintendo Direct.
According to a recent episode of the Giant Bomb podcast, industry insider Jeff Grubb claims that The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild 2 will officially have its name unveiled. At this time, Nintendo has only described the game as a sequel to Breath of the Wild.
What will the Breath of the Wild sequel be called?
Logically, the title “Breath of the Wild 2” does make sense. That being said, if that was going to be its name, I’m sure Nintendo would have said so by now.
So, it might be safe to assume that it will get a fancy, no-numbered title. I’m going to throw my guess out there and call it “The Legend of Zelda: Fire of Ganondorf”.
Grubb also claims that this “Zelda blowout” Nintendo Direct event will take place on Tuesday or Wednesday ahead of the Tokyo Game Show.
Japan’s biggest gaming convention takes place from Thursday, September 15th to the 18th. So, if Grubb’s info is correct, we might get a surprise Direct event tomorrow September 13th or on Wednesday, September 14th.
