A sealed copy of The Legend of Zelda for the NES is being sold at auction for a silly amount of money right now.
Back in April of this year, you may remember the sealed copy of Super Mario Bros also for the NES sold for a whopping $660,000 at auction. Well, it seems that this sealed copy of The Legend of Zelda is on track to break similar sales records.
This really is a rare treasure!
As reported by Nintendo Life, the game in question is the original Zelda game which was released for the Nintendo Entertainment System in 1987. Although the game itself isn’t super rare this sealed version of it has a grade 9 “Rev-A”. It’s said to be an early production version that was only available for a few months. So if you’ve ever wondered “is my NES Zelda rare?” the answer may be yes… if you have a sealed copy that has a grade 9 “Rev-A”!
In the description of the auction listing, it is stated that this sealed copy “is the only copy from one of the earliest production runs that we’ve ever had the opportunity to offer, and possibly will have the opportunity to offer, for many years to come.”
However, there are some great alternatives
The listing is on Heritage Auction and has reached a bid of $110,000 and is ending soon.
In related news, during a recent Nintendo Direct event, a new The Legend of Zelda Game & Watch was announced, which is much cheaper than the above alternative.
