Aww rats.

A Plague Tale Requiem Gameplay Looks Like ‘Last Of Us But Historical’

A new trailer for A Plague Tale: Requiem debuted at the Xbox and Bethesda Games Showcase, showing off some much more fleshed out gameplay.

Late last year at The Game Awards, a small snippet of A Plague Tale: Requiem gameplay was shown off. But it didn’t really show us how the game might play. Thankfully, a new gameplay trailer gives us a proper taste of what to expect, and it looks like Amicia is taking a bit of a violent streak.

(Some spoilers for the end of the first game in this one).

For reasons currently unknown, despite the ending of the first game, Amicia and her younger brother Hugo appear to be split up for a portion of the game. And now, Amicia seems set on being able to defend herself better.

how does the gameplay look?

In the first game, a majority of your time was spent acting more stealthily than aggressively. After all, Amicia is a young woman not trained in any form of combat. But the latest trailer seems to show her stabbing, strangling, and shooting enemies with a crossbow.

Though it clearly hasn’t lost its stealth roots, as you can crawl under furniture now to make it easier to hide. But being able to fight back seems to be a big focus for the sequel.

A Plague Tale: Requiem Now Has A Demo, But You Can’t Play It

The end of the trailer does show Hugo using his recently acquired, rat-controlling abilities. But presumably you won’t be able to use them whenever you want. Because there are a whole lot of rats in the first game, which might make Hugo a bit overpowered.

Overall, A Plague Tale: Requiem looks like it’s shaping up to be quite an impressive sequel. As long as it improves upon some of the more glaring flaws in the first game, the followup should be a strong, if harrowing, journey.
