Big Pokémon news has been teased following the Macy’s Thanksgiving Day Parade, which saw dancing Pikachu steal the show for viewers across the United States and Canada.
Thanksgiving is one the USA’s biggest events of the year, and one of its most famous traditions is the world-renowned Macy’s Thanksgiving Day Parade.

The parade celebrates everything Thanksgiving-related – and some things less so – such as the upcoming 25th anniversary of the Pokémon series.
In a socially-distant performance at the parade we saw joyous Pokémon Trainers dancing with a gaggle of Pikachu and generally having a great time together.
However it was a tease revealed after the celebration from the official Pokémon Twitter page that has got many fans excited.
The tweet reads as follows: “Need one more thing to be thankful for today, Trainers? Our Pokémon 25th Anniversary celebration kicks off in 2021! Stay tuned for more details”
While the tweet doesn’t reveal any details, the fact that we are being informed that the “25th Anniversary celebration kicks off” next year and we’re being told to “stay tuned for more details” perhaps speaks volumes.
February of 2021 marks the 25th anniversary of the release of both Pokémon Red and Pokémon Green releasing in Japan in 1996 (the West got the release of Pokémon Red and Blue).
So to celebrate the big anniversary of the video game series it stands to reason that new (or returning) Pokémon games are likely to be announced. Especially when you consider previous rumours that we’ve reported on this year.
In October, the “Pokémon Super Collection” was rumoured to release for the Nintendo Switch in 2021. This “Super Collection” would include Pokémon X and Y, Pokémon Omega Ruby and Alpha Sapphire, and Pokémon Sun and Moon.

Then earlier this month a UK retailer accidentally leaked the “Pokémon Master Collection” which reportedly includes Pokémon Red, Pokémon Gold and Pokémon Ruby (the GBA version) also expected to release in 2021.
It’s not yet known whether either of these leaks are correct, but with the Pokémon Twitter page informing us to “stay tuned” for the 25th anniversary next year, it’s definitely exciting!
