On Twitter, there’s been a “Battle of Tweets” Brand Bracket Championship which involves the likes of Oreo, Doritos, Skittles, Spotify, MTV, Microsoft, and more.
The elimination tournament came down to Skittles versus Microsoft, and if Microsoft won, it planned on producing Xbox Series X mini fridges for fans to buy for real!
Earlier in the campaign General Manager for Xbox Games at Marketing, Aaron Greenberg, promised that if Xbox won the campaign, they would produce the mini-fridges for the mass market. And yes, Microsoft won!
Greenberg announced that Microsoft had won the Battle of Tweets campaign as revealed below:
“Thanks to everyone who voted, this was down to the wire and thrilling to follow. Now that Xbox won, won, we will move forward on our promise to make those Xbox Series X Mini Fridges. First one off the line will be filled with games & headed to our friends at Skittles of course!”
So now the questions remain: when will the Xbox Series X fridges begin production, will they be available in multiple regions and how much will they cost?
They’ll certainly be a market worldwide for the Xbox Series X mini fridges, as made clear by fans on Twitter.
Microsoft has promised that further details will be revealed later in the year of when and how the Xbox mini fridges will become available. So as they say, “watch this space”.
Personally, I’d love to own an Xbox fridge, though I think they’ll likely be out of my price range and I doubt my wife would appreciate one as much as I!
