Call Of Duty: Black Ops Cold War’s First Update Nerfs Popular SMG

Treyarch has released the first update for Call of Duty: Black Ops Cold War and, while it will fix some reported bugs, its main focus is on a singular SMG – and a nerf.

The SMG weapon in question is the MP5 submachine gun. Call of Duty: Black Ops Cold War only released on November 13th however this little sprayer of bullets has been reaping havoc online.

If you play Call of Duty: Black Ops Cold War online, the chances are that you have been killed via the MP5 many, many times.

So to encourage players to use some of the SMG weapons available in the game the MP5 has been fine-tuned a.k.a nerfed.

Tony Flame, a developer of Black Ops Cold War, retweeted the official Treyarch page saying: “We’re keeping this limited to the 1 gun we’ve gotten the most feedback on, as we continue working on the larger pass for Season 1.

As revealed in a tweet by the official Treyarch page, the MP5 has had its base effective damage range reduced by 33% as well as having the recoil of the weapon adjusted.

Now get out there and try the other four!” encouraged Treyarch.

While this update only fine-tunes the single weapon, a larger update will arrive on December 10th which will include more weapons as well as launching Black Ops Cold War Season One and its accompanying Battle Pass.

The December update will also integrate Call of Duty: Modern Warfare/Warzone with Black Ops Cold War.

Season One will also bring in new multiplayer maps, modes, weapons, Zombies modes, a classified Warzone experience as well as the Gunfight 2v2 mode.

However prior to Season One launching, the ever-popular Nuketown ’84 map will be added to the multiplayer on November 24th.
