God of War Ragnarok has now sold over 11 million copies worldwide as revealed by the developer, Santa Monica Studio.
“We’re incredibly humbled that God of War Ragnarok has officially sold through 11 million copies,” the studio tweeted. “None of this would be possible without the support of our fans, so thank you for coming on this journey with us!”
God of War 2018 vs 2022
It should come as little surprise that Ragnarok is proving to be such a commercial success on both PS5 as well as PS4. After all, it received high acclaim from critics and fans alike.
What’s more, God of War Ragnarok became the fast-selling launch title in PlayStation history with 5.1 million copies sold within its first week. Naturally, it also became a record for the God of War series as a whole.
To put things into perspective, it took God of War (2018) a month to sell 5 million copies. Granted, it was only available for PS4 at that time. Furthermore, as of November 2022, God of War (2018) had sold 23 million units.
So within roughly three months, Ragnarok has approached nearly half of its predecessor’s total on PS5 and PS4. However, at the time of writing, the Norse sequel hasn’t been announced for PC.
