Nintendo finally announced the release date for Wave 2 of the Mario Karty 8 Deluxe DLC, and with it comes a brand new course!
Lately, Nintendo Direct has felt lacklustre. Big reveals that you’d expect to witness in the showcase, like Bayonetta 3’s release date, have instead been left for social media.
While disappointing, some game fans want news so badly that they don’t care how they get it. They only care when, and as of today, Nintendo finally shared news about Mario Kart 8 Deluxe’s DLC.
Today on Twitter, Nintendo revealed that Wave 2 of the Mario Kart 8 Deluxe DLC will be coming out on August 4th!
The second wave of DLC features two new cups, each comprising of eight courses.
The new courses are from previous Mario Kart games, where there’s a huge range to pick from, with the series starting in 1992. And the ongoing Mario Kart app, Mario Kart Tour, regularly releases brand new courses too.
The two new Cups, The Turnip Cup and the Propeller Cup will be coming to the game next month. Below, we take a look at what courses each cup will bring to the game.
The Turnip Cup:
The Turnip Cup brings 4 new courses to the game. Including fan favourite from Mario Kart DS, Waluigi Pinball.
- New York Minute (Mario Kart Tour, Mobile)
- Mario Circuit 3 (Mario Kart SNES)
- Kalimari Desert (Mario Kart N64)
- Waluigi Pinball (Mario Kart DS)
The Propeller Cup:
The Propeller Cup also brings 4 more courses, consisting of a brand new course never seen before in any other Mario Kart game, Sky-High Sundae!
- Sydney Sprint (Mario Kart Tour, Mobile)
- Snow Land (Mario Kart Speed Circuit, GBA)
- Mushroom Gorge (Mario Kart Wii, Nintendo Wii)
- Sky-High Sundae
Sky-High Sundae is a new course which hasn’t been featured on any previous Mario Kart games. The ice-cream-themed course sees you drifting across bright coloured frosting and other delicious treats.
Nintendo describes it as, “a high-speed treat. Glide through the giant gelato, up the sorbet slopes and past the curve of cafes to reach the frozen finish line!”

Although Nintendo yet again hasn’t announced when we’re likely to expect the other waves, that’s certainly exciting news! Fans have been waiting for Wave 2 for a while, which resulted in circulating rumours about the release dates of DLC.
This official announcement means we can all expect to be drifting around the new courses on the 4th of August, next month.
