A Metal Gear Solid Remake Could Be In Development

It looks like the original Metal Gear Solid could be getting a remake, according to one prominent leaker.

As reported by ComicBook, a now seemingly deleted tweet from AccountNGT has confirmed the existence of a Metal Gear Solid remake. A user on Twitter asked AccountNGT if there was one in the works, to which the leaker simply responded “yes.”

Not much to go off of there, but AccountNGT is a known leaker, which lends some credence to it. However, like with all leaks, it’s best to take it with a pinch of salt.

After all, the tweet has been deleted now, so it could be that AccountNGT was provided with incorrect information. And the response was so simple that we don’t even know what scale, or what kind of remake it might be.

what would it even remake?

The original Metal Gear Solid was released in 1998 on the PlayStation. It technically already had a remake in 2004, with the release of Metal Gear Solid: The Twin Snakes on the GameCube. The Twin Snakes featured updated graphics, new cutscenes, and gameplay similar to what was seen in Metal Gear Solid 2. So if a new remake is in development, there’s the question of what it’s actually remaking.

This isn’t the only time we’ve heard rumours about a Metal Gear Solid remake either. We heard something similar back in 2020, but nothing has come of that as of yet. And last year there were rumours of a MGS3 remake, so anything could be going on at Konami.

It is important to note that these are just all rumours, and there could be nothing in the works at all. So we’ll have to wait and see if anything comes of them. At least we know that the nuclear disarmament mission in MGS5 isn’t possible.
