Overwatch 2 is getting a dating sim added in-game

Blizzard are continuing to make game news headlines with their changes recently. This time it is coming in the form of a dating simulator for Overwatch 2.

Also known as ‘Loverwatch’, a dating sim is set to be added to the game for Season 3. Set to be released on February 13 (through to the 28th), this mode will allow players to pursue either Mercy or Genji. Blizzard announced this alongside their Valentine’s Day event in their recent blog post. They say:

“Our Ultimate Valentine event kicks off on Valentine’s Day this year with a Hanzo 4v4 Limited Time Mode and Support-themed challenges that can net you two earnable epic skins, among other rewards.”

What does Loverwatch include?

As mentioned, Loverwatch will allow players to romance either the cyborg, Genji or winged healer, Mercy. This non-canon sim will be text based, presenting players with dialogue options with their chosen hero. Assisted by Cupid (who looks a lot like Genji’s brother, Hanzo), you can aim to unlock the secret ending which will reward you with a themed player of the game highlight.

Blizzard have said that once the event is live, the short dating game will be accessible here for web clients only (not in-game).

What else?

The Hanzo 4v4 mode will also allow players the chance to get Hanzo’s new cupid skin. Additionally, this season will see Overwatch involved in its first collaboration. Doomfist and One Punch Man will combine to see Doom fitted in a matching skin. We’re currently unsure how many coins this skin will cost but with Blizzard recently focusing on price decreases, we hope it won’t be too expensive.

Another new Mythic skin will be available for the healer, Kiriko complete with many customisations. The season 3 trailer also hints at cosmetics for Ashe, D.Va, Genji, Junkrat, Junker Queen, Mei, Moira, Reaper, and Zenyatta.

A new map will be heading to the game – Antarctic Peninsula. This will also feature a new fishing mode which you can learn more about here!

Finally, Blizzard also released a season 3 road map featuring everything that’s to be expected for the upcoming season. This includes a World Cup event coming in February, a limited-time Pachimarchi event for May 21 and upcoming Twitch drops.
