Following the story earlier in the week that the PS5 console has “absolutely” sold-out worldwide, an analyst has predicted it’s been the biggest console launch in the brand’s history.

According to GamesIndustry.biz‘s Christopher Dring, the sales figures for the launch of the PS5 are “on track for record-breaking sales for Sony.”
When discussing the sales of the PS5 in the UK, Dring said on Twitter: “The PS5 launch has been huge in the UK.”
When asked if it was known how many units had been sold, Dring replied indicating that PS5 sales will outdo that of the PS4.
“I have heard numbers in some markets, and they’re much bigger than PS4,” responded Dring.
Answering a a follow-up question, Dring then claimed that the “PS5 will likely be the biggest console launch in history.”
The previous launch record was held by the PlayStation 4 which sold around 2.1 million units within its first two weeks of sale.
While numbers are yet to be disclosed at the time of writing, we at least know sales of the PS5 will potentially eclipse sales of the PlayStation 4.
However despite the expected record sale numbers for the PlayStation 5, the launch of this next-gen console will be marred by the resellers of Sony’s console.

In a recent report, a company that specialises acquiring sought-after products claims to have purchased 3,500 PlayStation 5 consoles, presumably to be sold at a profit.
Many of the consoles are said to have been purchased by company bots, resulting in worldwide shortages and many genuine fans not being able to get their hands on the next-gen console.
