Reselling Company’s Attempt To Buy 1000 New Consoles Has Been Thwarted

A reselling company’s attempt to buy 1000 new Xbox Series X consoles has reportedly failed due to a mess-up from UK retailer, Very. Sadly, it seems the issue has affected some genuine customers too.

Since way before the PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S hit the shelves, console resellers have been making big profits from desperate buyers wanting to get their hands on a next-gen console.

Just last month it was revealed that a company that specialises in acquiring highly sought-after products to be sold at a profit claimed to have purchased over 3,500 PlayStation 5 consoles for profiteering resellers to make big money on selling websites such as eBay.

Some of the reselling companies would acquire the next-gen consoles manually, but they would also use specialised bots to acquire the consoles which not only have the ability to snap-up products in a blink of an eye, but are also able to jump online queues.

Only yesterday the profiteering and reselling company known as CrepChiefNotify boasted on Instagram that it had acquired over “1000 Xbox Series X consoles” for its members to purchase.

We’ve done it again!” said the Instagram post of CrepChiefNotify. “We just notified our members of a Xbox Series X restock on a very well known online retailer.

They have now managed to secure over 1000+ today and there’s still many hours left. You snooze you lose.

As noted by Sky News, the “well known online retailer” in question was UK site Very, which operates a one-console-purchase-per-household policy.

Unfortunately for the reselling company and its profiteering members, Sky News was informed by the retailer that those orders have now been cancelled.

As a result of a technical error, some people were able to place orders for PS5 and Xbox Series X consoles for a short time on Sunday,” Very informed Sky News.

However, these items are not on sale and affected customers have received notice that the orders have been cancelled. We apologise for the confusion caused.

Sadly it is understood that some genuine customers have been caught up in the cancellation of orders but they will apparently receive refunds within the next 48 to 72 hours.

While this does not stop the issue of companies and resellers acquiring next-gen consoles to gain huge profits in the long run, at least this plan was temporarily foiled.

However it would be nice one day for retailers to get together to find an effective way to prevent resellers and companies from profiting in such crude ways!
