The special effects company working on the Resident Evil movie reboot has shared the first image of that first zombie encounter from the video games.
Anyone that has played either the original Resident Evil from 1996 or the fantastic remake of 2002 will remember that iconic moment when we first encountered a zombie, and now we’ve seen a glimpse of it in the upcoming reboot.
Applied Arts FX Studio is the team responsible for the movie’s special makeup effects and the company has made a special t-shirt for the production team which looks to feature an image inspired by that head-turning zombie moment.
From the looks of things the artwork on the t-shirt seems to be inspired by the 2002 remake rather than the 1996 original, but it’s quite exciting nonetheless, as it’s another piece of the puzzle which seems faithful to the source material.
So far this movie reboot has been making very positive waves among the Resident Evil community as we’ve already seen faithful recreations of the Racoon Police Department, the Spencer Mansion and more.
In case you missed it, you can check out some of the fantastic on-set images from the production here and here.
Also if you want a reminder of that iconic first zombie encounter from both the 1996 original and the 2002 remake, I’ll include two nostalgic videos below.
So far the cast of the Resident Evil movie reboot includes Kaya Scodelario (Claire Redfield), Robbie Amell (Chris Redfield), Hannah John-Kamen (Jill Valentine), Aven Jogia ( Leon S. Kennedy), Tom Hopper (Albert Wesker), Neal McDonough (William Birkin) and Donal Logue as Chief Irons.
Just recently a tentative release date of September 9th, 2021 was revealed for the Resident Evil movie reboot.
