Starfield Lead Writer: ‘Players Are Going To Lose Their Minds’

Starfield lead designer and writer and Bethesda Emil Pagliarulo answers a few questions about himself in a new blog post, and also touches on the upcoming RPG.

A post shared to the official Bethesda site introduces Pagliarulo, who has been with the studio for 19 years. The Starfield designer and writer has worked on games like Thief Gold at Looking Glass Studio, as well as the Bloodmoon expansion for Morrowind.

In the post, Pagliarulo also spoke about Starfield, and what it means to him. “There comes a point when you’re working on a game, and it’s just kind of a mess,” said Pagliarulo. “But then you get to that point where systems really start to come online, and things start to work well…

When that first happened with Starfield, it really was an, “Oh. Oh wow. Yeah. This is… something really special. Players are going to lose their minds.” Now we just have to finish it!

For prospective players, that’s certainly an exciting sentiment. Not much is currently known about Starfield. We did recently get a leak showing off images from a build of the game from 2018. But of course, these are very likely to be outdated by now. There’s a lot of hype for Bethesda’s first new IP in twenty years. But we haven’t seen any gameplay from Starfield yet.

There’s also not a set time we could expect to see any gameplay either. As both the digital and physical event for E3 has been cancelled. And Bethesda typically hosts a conference at the event. So there is the chance it holds some kind of Nintendo Direct style presentation in lieu of the event.
