Xbox addresses Game Awards no-show: ‘We have a lot planned’

Xbox explains why it wasn’t at The Game Awards last week by encouraging fans that: “we have a lot planned” ahead of 2023.

During The Game Awards last week, third-party publishers, developers as well as the likes of PlayStation and Nintendo were in attendance. However, one noticeable exclusion was Microsoft showing off some of its upcoming first-party Xbox titles.

Xbox addresses not being at The Game Awards

In a tweet by Vice President of Xbox Games Marketing, Aaron Greenberg, seemingly in response to fans wondering why Microsoft was not at The Game Awards, fans’ concerns were apparently addressed.

We have a lot planned to show and share about an incredibly exciting year ahead for 2023,” tweeted Greenberg. “[We] Appreciate folks who are eager to learn and see more. Timing is always key, but don’t worry you will not have to wait too long for what’s next from us.

It’s fair to say that 2022 hasn’t been a great year for Xbox in terms of first-party titles. Even by Microsoft’s own admission, PlayStation has the better exclusives. However, with the likes of Starfield, Red Fall, and Stalker 2 on the horizon, 2023 could be an exciting year for the green brand.

When will Xbox show off some games?

It’s unlikely that Microsoft will show off some new upcoming games by the time 2022 is over. However, that’s not to say that we’ll be treated to new gameplay at the turn of the new year. That being said, I think most of us can agree that Microsoft will be showing off what’s coming in 2023 and beyond during E3 this coming June.
