Star Wars Knights of the Old Republic remake has reportedly been handed over to Saber Interactive, backing up previous claims.
Earlier this year a report claimed that the KOTOR remake was facing a troubling development and it was delayed indefinitely. However, other reports have claimed that the indefinite delay might not entirely be true.
Is Knights of the Old Republic in trouble?
Furthermore, a more recent report this week claimed that Aspyr was no longer developing the remake and it has been passed over to another studio.
Up until this point, Aspyr was known for handling remasters for mobile ports. The Aspyr remaster library included the two original KOTOR games for mobile as well as Jade Empire and more.
Aspyr is owned by Embracer Group and in a Q1 financial report, Embracer said that an unnamed AAA project had switched developers to ensure “the quality bar is where we need it to be for the title.”
While the name of the AAA game nor the developer was mentioned, the Q1 financial report was believed to be referring to Knights of the Old Republic as well as Aspyr.
Will Saber save the day?
However, according to a report by the ever-reliable Jason Schreier of Bloomberg, it is believed that the unnamed studio now developing the Star Wars Knights of the Old Republic remake is Saber Interactive.
Saber Interactive is arguably best known for the Crysis remasters, as well as multiplayer games World War Z and Evil Dead: The Game. Would Saber Interactive be a better fit for the KOTOR remake? Only time will tell.
When will Star Wars Knights of the Old Republic release?
At this time, the Star Wars Knights of the Old Republic remake doesn’t have a release date. However, we do know for sure that it will be released for PC and PlayStation 5. That being said, it is a timed exclusive, so it will release for Xbox Series X|S at some point.
