These are the best FPS games to play in 2022

Here are the remainder of the games in our best FPS games to play in 2022 list!

6. Superhot VR

Outnumbered, outgunned, but still outstyling your enemies: Superhot VR is a disruptive solo FPS where time advances when you move, and only when you move. Best played in VR so you can feel like John Wick in Training, Superhot’s hand tracking sees you flip pistols and side swerve shotguns like never before, making for an immersive experience with huge replay value. The game’s unique visuals and use of 3D space make it not only one of the best FPS games of recent years, but an absolute VR essential. SUPER. HOT. SUPER. HOT.

7. Valorant

Inspired by tactical shooters (hello, CS:GO), Valorant is a bold hero shooter that aims to make the genre more accessible, with a colourful cast of characters and engaging ult-based gameplay. But don’t worry, because its tactical blueprint is still intact; you’ll need to strategize carefully here, timing your ability usage and firing well-aimed shots at the opposing team lest you take a bad gamble and throw the match. Easy to pick up and satisfyingly hard to master, Valorant requires a level of synergy with your teammates that makes winning all the sweeter.

8. Neon White

Hot off the press is Neon White, an FPS (and platformer, and parkour simulator, and deck builder, and-) that has style baked into its very soul. Definitely the most out-there shooter on the list, Neon White lets you throw away your guns – criminal – to perform even sicker parkour, a mechanic that feels wonderfully like Mirror’s Edge at its best. A frenetic, exciting shooter where you play as an assassin with amnesia, at first impressions the skill ceiling is as high as heaven itself. Oh, and it’s brimming with Y2K vibes.

9. Call of Duty: Warzone

COD’s foray into the battle royale contest has been an enormous – if surprising – hit. Call of Duty: Warzone brings all the power of its longstanding name with it, giving players a truly impressive map, beautifully designed zones and familiar loadouts for their excursions. There’s a reason this is one of the best FPS games with a massively multiplayer element, and with millions of other players online, matches are as and when you want them. Warzone 2.0 has been announced for October 2022, so you can head back to the Gulag right away.

10. Counter Strike: Global Offensive

It’s impossible to recommend an FPS without singing the praises of Counter Strike: Global Offensive. The birthplace of many esports stars, Valve’s tactical shooter is just as popular now as when it was released 11 years ago. And while it’s not the easiest game to pick up for the first time, CS:GO’s compelling 5v5 gameplay and stop-to-aim shooting skills transfer incredibly well to almost any other FPS out there. It’ll be hard to beat the veterans, but when you do, you’ll feel like a tactical mastermind.

And that’s our picks for the best FPS games in 2022! Now it’s time to head off to the shooting range, pick your best loadout and get practising those victory moves (or commiserations). Miss your fave? Tell us on Twitter
