Monster Prom’s 1-4 player couch multiplayer in which you each vie for the romantic attraction of another classmate makes it an easy contender to play with a significant other or a group of friends.
2. FIVE DATES – best dating sim games
Five Dates is about Vinny, your typical London bloke who does typical London things. He buys his coffee from Pret a Manger and gets angry when he has to wait 3 minutes for the Tube. And he’s also going on virtual dates with five women from the city. Filmed during lockdown, Five Dates is an FMV dating sim where you get to know each of the women over a series of online dates, and choose Vinny’s interactions with them. Will he get lucky or will he fail miserably?
3. DREAM DADDY
Being a Dad isn’t just about having a child. It’s also an energy you need to manifest. You’ve got to come prepared with the cheesy puns, the Hard Rock Cafe t-shirts, and saying “Ready to rock and roll?” when leaving a restaurant. And how could we not leave Dream Daddy: A Dad Dating Simulator off our list of best dating sim games? Creating your own Dadsona is only part of the fun as you go on cute dates with seven others to find the one.
4. THE SIMS 4
The Sims 4 might not exactly be a dating sim, but there are dating elements to it. Your sim can experience all the trials and tribulations of modern dating. Meet someone, fall in love, end up married together. Or don’t. When you add in all the other simulation aspects the game has to offer, the dating aspect of it is a kinda perfect representation of what dating is like in the real world. Although, the last time I dated someone in The Sims, a person ended up drowning in a nearby pool which caused the Grim Reaper to appear. So maybe it’s not all realism.
5. SPEED DATING FOR GHOSTS
Speed Dating for Ghosts is a part-horror, part-comedy dating sim where you meet all sorts of spooky ghosts who are simply looking for love in the afterlife. With 12 ghosts to date, you have deep conversations with them that branch off into many different directions depending on what you say. While it’s not the deepest dating sim, nor the longest, at only a fiver you’re saddled up for a decent evening with your special spectral suitor.
6. LOVE CHOICE
Love Choice is a short experience, but it takes you through all the motions of a modern relationship. Featuring three stories with multiple endings, the game is a discussion on love and all that encompasses it. The game uses its mechanics to help players express their thoughts easier, as well help love their partner a little better. In the end, I feel anyone who plays Love Choice may come out a little more introspective of how they approach dating.
